Teams for Linux is an unofficial, community-maintained desktop wrapper around the Microsoft Teams web application. In short:
- The application has no user accounts of its own and transmits no personal data to the maintainer. What it needs locally — your Teams session, settings, and logs — is stored only on your device.
- The maintainer runs no servers and no backend — there is nowhere for your data to be sent to the maintainer.
- No telemetry, analytics, tracking, profiling, or advertising. The application even blocks a set of Microsoft telemetry hosts.
- Any processing of your Teams data is the responsibility of Microsoft and of the organisation that owns your Microsoft 365 environment — not this project.
- The complete source is public and auditable. Licensed GPL-3.0-or-later, provided "as is", without warranty.

This is a factual, technical description, not legal advice. Where a
deployment needs a formal compliance sign-off, that is the responsibility of the
organisation operating the Microsoft 365 environment (the data controller). See
