Resetting the controller via controller shortcut results in Display not updating #1693
When I reset the controller via controller shortcut which I have assigned (Fn+S1+S2), the display should always restart along and refresh accordingly.
Current Behavior
The display stops responding and doesn't change modes, even if the controller is actually responding as expected. The display is stuck in the last controller mode it was showing.
This is true even if I am in configuration mode.
Context
Please provide all relevant information about your setup. This is important in case the issue is not reproducible
except under certain conditions. Important elements include:
0.7.12
Haute42 COSMOX X Series Analog (GP2040-CE_0.7.12_Haute42COSMOXXAnalog.uf2)
C-AS
Amazon I guess
Steps to Reproduce
Example:
Fn+S1+S2 = works fine
Fn+S1+S2 + hold S1 for configuration = works fine
Fn+S1+S2 = mode changes to controller but display is stuck and won't refresh
Fn+S1+S2 = controller reboots (?) but display doesn't change
Fn+S1+S2 + hold S1 so it will go into config = Config mode works, I can set things up and save and all but the display is still stuck.
This is just one potential pattern. I think any time I reboot via shortcuts this can happen.
BTW Fn=T (TRB)
Holding too many buttons on reboot can cause odd things to happen.
If you are looking to flip in and out of web-config mode you can use the standard shortcut of S2 + P1 + P2 which held for a few seconds while the device is on will cause it to flip over to web-config mode and then, if held again, flip back.
This is normally how I get around, no need to unplug.
@TheTrainGoes Will test. Thank you.
I still like the reboot, as it allows me to change modes (xinput, ps4, dinput etc) without replug when I switch systems. Or is there another way to accomplish this as well?
@TheTrainGoes Sorry for the confusion.
While I do use KVM, this didn't even come to my mind. It is a good scenario.
This also applies for instance in games with DualShock support when playing on the same PC.
One would prefer using PlayStation style symbols to play, so switching from Xinput to PS3/4/5 mode would be desirable if the game supports it (it also eliminates pesky home button behavior in Windows without having to disable it from Windows settings).
In my current case, there is one physical unplug when switching systems.
However, sometimes one may plug the controller to another system without having changed the mode on boot or upon plugin in or out.
In other words, having forgotten to do so. In such case, I restart the controller and change modes.
There is another non PC scenario. For instance, when you are using a Mister FPGA, you would like to switch modes to match the console in use depending on your setup, while always using the same device/console (in this case the mister).

Hi @krizalidzero ,
What is the use case for restarting the controller like this?

@TheTrainGoes Hi.
3 use cases I thought of, all prevent wear on the USB ports:

@krizalidzero how are you switching systems without an unplug? KVM type switcher?
