Unreachable "add product" button after new barcode scan #7638
With the current beta, when I have a new barcode it's impossible to click the add button
Steps to reproduce the behavior
Scan a new barcode
The new product found box appears with a button below
It's impossible to click this button, instead it shrink the scan pannel…
Expected behavior
I don't understand why we have a specific button, on a product scan, you can click the whole area, why not do the same for new product found… nonetheless the button could be integrated in this info box.
When I enter a code manually, the box has the button integrated, I am able to click without problem:
@madhav-gaur he means building the app localy on your computer, and use android studio to reproduce the bug (scan a new product, and see if the bug is there also, or if it's only on my phone). That said, I really think it's worth fixing by making the full panel clickable, as this would be consistent with the interaction you have when you find a product (you just click on the whole panel, it's not a "open" button).
I investigated #7638 and was able to reproduce the issue on my Samsung A73.
The Unknown Product card is constrained to 35% of the screen height in camera_view.dart, while _MessageOverlay forces ScanCardDensity.NORMAL. On constrained screens this causes the card content to overflow (I reproduced a 58px overflow), leaving the “Add this product” action partially inaccessible. Since the normal-density card isn't scrollable/clickable, gestures can also fall through to the homepage's scroll view.
I compared this with scan_carousel.dart, which already switches to the dense layout when space is constrained. The dense layout uses SingleChildScrollView + InkWell, which addresses both the overflow and the gesture issue.
My proposed fix is to make the homepage scanner choose the appropriate ScanCardDensity based on the available constraints, consistent with the existing scan_carousel.dart behavior, while leaving the normal layout unchanged.
@Elitenotavailable yes, but along the fix, I'd also do the changed I propose (integrating button in the card and making whole card clickable), which IMO is more robust.
@alexgarel Sounds good. I can implement the responsive layout fix along with integrating the button into the card and making the card body clickable, while keeping the close action independent.

@madhav-gaur can you try building the app and reproduce it ?

@teolemon
Can you explain reproducing app??
you mean to feature?

Looks bad for existing products too.

For the record this is what we get with the existing scan page:

@monsieurtanuki in my opinion, the best way to fix the bug to make it so that:

Is someone working on this ? If not then I can work with the suggested solutions.

@Elitenotavailable : that would be great

I investigated #7638 and was able to reproduce the issue on my Samsung A73.
The Unknown Product card is constrained to 35% of the screen height in camera_view.dart, while _MessageOverlay forces ScanCardDensity.NORMAL. On constrained screens this causes the card content to overflow (I reproduced a 58px overflow), leaving the “Add this product” action partially inaccessible. My proposed fix is to make the homepage scanner choose the appropriate ScanCardDensity based on the available constraints, consistent with the existing scan_carousel.dart behavior, while leaving the normal layout unchanged.
Would this approach be acceptable for #7638?
