Garlic Sauce is an Electron desktop app. The app parses PowerPoint files locally and stores imported data in SQLite.
For high-fidelity slide previews, install the native conversion tools used by the import pipeline:
brew install --cask libreoffice
brew install popplerLibreOffice converts .ppt / .pptx files to PDF, and Poppler's pdftoppm
converts each PDF page to a PNG stored in SQLite. If either tool is missing or
fails, the app falls back to the built-in basic TypeScript rasterizer so imports
can still complete.
Useful commands:
npm start
npm run validate-
Emanuele is a trainer who trains people online by presenting concepts while sharing his screen. The problem is that he prefers to give lessons using his notes on the side, but students should not see them. So Emanuele wants to share only the app window where the slides are displayed, and not the app window where the notes are shown. Emanuele sometimes uses just one screen, which makes this approach difficult to manage, and sometimes has two screens, which makes it easier to keep the slides on one screen and the notes on the other.

Mary is a trainer who wants to draw on the slides. She would like to use many tools, such as shape forms and text insertion, all during the lessons. She would like to switch between tools by clicking on a small tab that lets her change the active tool. She loves using the mouse rather than a graphics tablet, so everything should be easy to use with a mouse.

Tom is a trainer who loves Excalidraw, but he doesn't like jumping from the slides to the browser to draw during the lesson. Since he shares one app at a time, this means he would have to stop sharing the slides in order to share the browser, and so on. He would like to have a white canvas where he can draw directly inside the app, allowing him to switch to drawing mode whenever he wants without leaving the slide application.

Andy is a trainer who likes to modify notes directly inside the app, with all the tools needed to format the text: bold, font, and so on.
