What

Use generated UUIDs for acq_uuid, sample_uuid and process_uuid instead of the machine name.

They will look something like b5515a78-6196-4841-a5a8-315b9b98f2af instead of sponge-bob-12345.

Why

  • The metadata name contains uuid which indicates a UUID must be used.
  • I am making the segmenter run locally so it needs to stop reading /run/machine-name (which I intend to remove in a followup)

Using the machine name is incorrect and probably a mistake. See this comment for the original intention #61 (comment)

Depends on #849

# What

* Allow running the segmenter locally, without a container.
* Remove containerized segmenter

# Why

* Simplify development / testing and using the segmenter on computers
with more computational power.
* We don't use Docker anymore.
