fix(runner): probe /favicon.ico before other icons - #2699
HandleFaviconHash only probed the default /favicon.ico when the page declared no icon <link> tags. If a page declared only non-.ico icons (for example icon.png or apple-touch-icon.png), httpx never tried /favicon.ico, even though many servers serve it whether or not the page declares it.
With this change, when default probing is enabled and the page declares no .ico icon, /favicon.ico is added to the front of the candidate list:

When default probing is enabled, the runner prepends /favicon.ico if the first favicon candidate does not end in .ico. The existing fallback for an empty candidate list remains unchanged.

When default probing is enabled and the first candidate does not end in .ico (case-insensitive), the runner prepends /favicon.ico. The empty-list fallback remains unchanged.
A declared favicon with query parameters can be replaced by the default favicon; correct URL-path classification before merging.

Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win
Classify .ico candidates by URL path.
For a link such as /brand.ico?v=1, the full href does not end with .ico, so these lines prepend /favicon.ico. If both resources return images, the runner hashes /favicon.ico and reports the wrong favicon path. Parse the URL and check parsed.Path for the .ico suffix. Apply the same rule in extractPotentialFavIconsURLs sorting. Add a regression test for a query-bearing .ico link. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Update runner.go
fix(runner): probe /favicon.ico before other icons
Oct 30, 2026
The favicon hash came from the first icon the page links to. A page
that links only PNG or SVG icons got the hash of one of those, even
when the server also serves /favicon.ico, which is the file most
favicon hash fingerprints are taken from.
When default probing is allowed and none of the linked icons is an
.ico, try /favicon.ico first and fall back to the linked icons after
it. The links are already sorted with .ico first, so checking the
first one is enough.
