Enqueue batched delayed jobs outside the transaction - #850
Batched delayed enqueues ran enqueue inside WATCH/MULTI but through Resque.redis, not the transaction. On redis-rb 5+ the pushes went out immediately, so when anything touched the timestamp bucket mid-batch, EXEC aborted and the whole batch was enqueued again. On redis-rb 4.x, enqueue hooks that used Redis got futures back or hit MULTI calls can not be nested.
The batch is now taken in a WATCH/MULTI that only does LTRIM and the SREMs (retried if the bucket changes), then the jobs are enqueued outside the transaction. Same at-most-once semantics as the non-batch path (LPOP, then enqueue). The README section warning about hooks in batch mode is gone since it no longer applies.

Summary by CodeRabbit
Bug Fixes
Improved delayed-job batch handling when enqueue hooks interact with Redis, helping jobs enqueue consistently and schedule data clear correctly after the final partial batch.
If a batch cannot be selected because its Redis data changes, its jobs are not enqueued.
Documentation
Removed README guidance about batching compatibility, possible delayed-job loss, and the workaround for these issues.
The scheduler now removes delayed-job batches from timestamp buckets in a Redis transaction, then enqueues the decoded jobs outside that transaction. The test covers enqueue hooks that access Redis. The README batching compatibility section was removed.

Summary
Batch extraction and enqueueing lib/resque/scheduler.rb, test/delayed_queue_test.rb, README.md
The scheduler watches and trims the timestamp bucket in a transaction, then enqueues decoded jobs outside the transaction. If the transaction fails, batch extraction returns no batch and the caller returns a count of zero. The test checks Redis operations from enqueue hooks, queue sizes, and schedule cleanup. The README batching compatibility section was removed.

Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
[#787, #773] take_delayed_batch uses WATCH and a MULTI that only performs timestamp SREM operations and LTRIM. enqueue_items_in_batch_for_timestamp enqueues decoded jobs after the transaction succeeds. A failed watch returns no batch. The regression test runs Redis operations in enqueue hooks and verifies hook results, queue sizes, and cleared delayed scheduling. This addresses the redis-rb transaction behavior and nested MULTI failure.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
The scheduler changes implement the linked batch-enqueue fix. The test covers Redis-using enqueue hooks and duplicate prevention. The README removes the warning for the behavior that the fix changes. The logging and retry-flow updates support the revised batch result handling. No unrelated change is established.

Explanation
Docstring coverage is 50.00% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 2 functions across 2 files.
Resolution
Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

membership atomic in the flow using encoded_jobs_to_requeue, so a concurrent
insert of an identical job retains its membership. Replace the separate SREM
pipeline step with coordination that prevents it from removing membership added
after extraction.
- Around line 267-269: Update the batch extraction around timestamp_bucket_key
so LTRIM does not remove jobs before Resque.decode and the SREM pipeline
succeed. Keep the batch recoverable if either operation raises or fails, and
preserve the existing enqueue failure handling.
