## stress_test.py

Whole-system stress test against a running gate. Drives every significant HTTP
path at once, over USB networking and WiFi simultaneously if both are available,
verifies each response against its Content-Length, and samples the device heap
throughout.

```
python tools/stress_test.py --usb 192.168.7.1 --bind 192.168.7.2
python tools/stress_test.py --usb 192.168.7.1 --bind 192.168.7.2 --wifi 192.168.0.225 --duration 900 --workers 3 --out report.json
```

`--bind` is required for USB: without a source address the request can leave via
the wrong interface. The marshal RSSI endpoint is discovered automatically from
`/races` and included if any race has a stored trace, since that is the chunked
response path. Exits non-zero if any request failed.

A truncated body is the signature of the RNDIS transmit stall and does not raise
on its own, so responses are checked against their declared length rather than
just their status code.

#!/usr/bin/env python3
"""Whole-system stress test for a running FPVGate.

Drives every significant HTTP path at once, over one or both transports (USB
networking and WiFi) simultaneously, verifies every response against its
Content-Length, and samples the device's heap throughout.

The point is to catch the failures that only show up under sustained mixed load:
the RNDIS bulk-IN transmit stall, heap exhaustion, and any endpoint that degrades
when the device is busy rather than idle.

Examples
--------
# USB only, the default, five minutes
python tools/stress_test.py --usb 192.168.7.1 --bind 192.168.7.2

# Both transports at once, fifteen minutes, heavier concurrency
python tools/stress_test.py --usb 192.168.7.1 --bind 192.168.7.2 \
--wifi 192.168.0.225 --duration 900 --workers 3

# Stop at the first failure instead of running the clock out
python tools/stress_test.py --usb 192.168.7.1 --bind 192.168.7.2 --stop-on-fail

Exit status is 0 if every request succeeded, 1 otherwise.

Record marshal discovery failures as failures.

Line 131 treats a timeout, connection failure, malformed JSON response, and missing response data from /races as proof that no RSSI history exists. If /races recovers during the workload, the run can pass without testing the marshal endpoint.

Return the discovery error and retry or record it as a test failure. Do not print the no-history message unless discovery completed successfully.

Take the initial heap sample before waiting.

Line 158 delays the first /status request by --heap-interval. A run shorter than that interval has no heap samples. The report also labels the first delayed sample as start.

Poll once before waiting for the next interval.

Record failed heap polls in stats.failures. heap_sampler performs a reachable /status request, but its exception path only calls stats.heap(-1, -1). main() returns success when stats.failures is empty, so a failed heap poll can produce PASSED and exit status 0 even when the documented “any request failed” condition is met. Add the heap poll failure to stats.failures before returning.

Reject configurations that cannot run the intended test.

Line 194 accepts --usb without --bind, so fetch() can select the wrong interface. It also accepts --workers 0, which starts no workload workers and can report PASSED. A negative --delay terminates a worker with ValueError without recording a failure. A zero --heap-interval creates a continuous /status polling loop.

Validate these values with ap.error() after parsing.
